Treating Bacteria |
|
|
Well water in our region often is contaminated with living
organisms like bacteria. We recommend that anyone using well water have
their water tested by a certified lab at least once every year. There
can be many reasons why these bacteria become issues in our water and
it is always advisable to locate and correct any and all contributing
factors to it. However this is not always possible and the water supply
remains contaminated with harmful bacteria. |

D&D Water Services features Top-Of The Line Trojan Ultra Violet Systems. This is the easiest and most recommended method to kill bacteria and sanitize the water. This method uses a stainless steel housing that is plumbed into the main incoming water line. As water flows through the housing it is exposed to ultra violet light. This exposure quickly kills 99.99% of all bacteria, virus and other biological organisms. |

| The second method is much more complicated to install and maintain. It is only recommended to homes or businesses that have extreme bacterial issues and / or are accompanied by other water quality issues like algae or other organisms. This system is called a ‘Chlorination – De – Chlorination System’. This system introduces a measured amount of liquid chlorine into the incoming water supply, routes it into a holding / contact tank then through an activated carbon tank to de-chlorinate or remove the chlorine from the water. These units must have the highest quality components such as Stenner Chemical Pumps, Spun Fiberglass Retention Tanks and Superior grade activated carbon in a backwash only valve / tank assembly. |

Water should be periodically tested to ensure either of these systems are functioning properly. Locally we use Micro-Bac as a certified testing lab. Periodic maintenance needs to be done on either system to ensure it is protecting the home from micro organisms. UV Bulbs need replaced annually to ensure the intensity remains strong enough. Chlorination systems need periodic inspection to ensure all the components are functioning as needed. |
